Coprolite (Fossilised Poo) Jurassic Period

This coprolite specimen comes from the Jurassic Period and is estimated to be around 180 million years old. Coprolite is fossilised animal droppings and is classified as a trace fossil because it preserves evidence of ancient behaviour rather than the physical structure of the animal itself. In this case, the specimen offers insight into the diet and habits of an unidentified Jurassic species. Coprolites are uncommon because organic material usually breaks down quickly, which makes each surviving piece a rare and valuable glimpse into prehistoric life. This single specimen is an intriguing addition for fossil collectors, educators, and anyone who enjoys unique pieces of natural history.
